Tumbleweed Rumba

Occasionally out on the high desert plain where we live we will have a slight breeze. Now slight is a relative word, the dictionary defines it as small or slim, but I look at it as if the glass is half full or half empty. Many will state that it is not a slight breeze but a down right rip roaring windstorm, but if you look at things positively, you can come to the conclusion that the wind is our friend. (At least the bugs don’t bother you or the fog doesn’t settle in)
At any rate in the early wintertime our illustrious vegetation that grows quite prolific on the high desert will dry out and start moving across the landscape. It appears that the ground is alive with traveling tumbleweeds or I like to say dancing tumbleweeds. Thus the name Tumbleweed Rumba. It is kind of fun watching this movement and see these objects as if they are alive doing their rumba as they jump and dance across the horizon. They occasionally will meet up with a fence line and become detained maybe for just a little while or maybe forever.  This fence line detention brings great consternation to my sweetheart Kathy. It is high on her priorities of annoyances and I know that next spring we will be torching up the old flame thrower and put a stop to Tumbleweed Rumbas. (at least until next winter).
I have a joke: two tumbleweeds are standing next to the road at nighttime and waiting to see if any cars might be coming down the road. The first tumbleweed says to the second “wait until you see the white of the lights”.
